The armory shows one character. The character comparison sets two to four Global characters next to each other, one column per character, so a gap shows up as a number instead of something to remember from another tab. It reads the same character service as the armory, so every character the armory finds can be compared.
Each equipment slot lists the piece of every character and then the stats the pieces add up to.
Choosing the characters
Pick the region and, if you know it, the server, type a name and choose the character from the results. A character you already opened in the armory is offered without typing, and the armory's character view has a Compare link that adds the character to the comparison. The page holds two to four characters. Each one is written into the address as region.server.name, so the link you copy opens the same comparison, and the browser also keeps the last comparison: opening the page with no characters brings it back until you press Clear.
What each section shows
- Character: class, level, combat power, item level and the equipped title.
- Attributes: the six attributes, the ten god stats, and the stats they convert into. The conversion is the one in the stat calculator: every point adds 0.1% to the stats it converts into. The guide to attributes and god stats lists every conversion.
- Equipment: every slot any of the characters wears, in the order of the game's character window. Each piece shows its enhancement level, its Amplified Enhance level, the
Soul Binding stats, the manastones, the Theostone and, on
Arcana, the skills it raises. Under the pieces, one line per stat adds up everything the piece gives: its own stats with the enhancement bonus, the Soul Binding stats and the manastones. A +12 piece with 263 Attack on the item and a 60 Attack enhancement bonus counts as 323 Attack. - Skills:
Stigma, active and passive skills with their levels. When two characters have the same skill at different levels, the higher level is marked.
Daevanion: the open nodes of each board out of its total, and the open nodes over all boards.- Titles: titles owned per category out of the category's total, with the equipped title of each category.
- Wings and pet: the equipped wing with its enhancement level and the pet with its level.
How the better value is chosen
On every line that holds a number, the best value is marked. For most stats the higher number wins: Attack, Critical Hit, Accuracy, HP. MP Cost and Cooldown are the exception. The client converts attributes and gods into them only downward, 0.1% less per point, so the lower figure is the one marked. A line where all characters hold the same value, or where only one character has a value, is not marked.
Two characters get a difference column that reads the second character against the first. With three or four characters each later cell carries its difference to the first character, so the first column acts as the reference. Put yourself first when you want to see what the others have that you do not.
Reading a gap
The sections answer different questions:
- Combat power and item level say who is ahead. The equipment lines say where, one stat at a time.
- A slot with the same piece in both columns and a different stat total points to enhancement, Amplified Enhance,
Soul Binding or the manastones, not to the item. The piece rows show which of them differs. - Attributes and gods change the converted stats of the first table. Two characters of the same class with a different Time or Destruction point split show up in the converted lines, not in the equipment.
- Skill levels and
Daevanion boards show what the character invested in outside the gear.
Each character's card links to the armory, the character builder, the skill builder and the stat calculator with that character loaded, so a comparison can end in a plan.
What the publisher's service cannot do
The comparison is bounded by the service it reads, and some limits cannot be worked around from the site:
- A character is found by name only. The service has no list of characters, no ranking and no gear score, so there is nothing to browse: you need the name.
- The address stores the name. A character that is renamed no longer matches, and a shared or kept comparison shows it as not found until the new name is entered.
- Every worn piece is a separate request: about 25 for a level 45 character, so a comparison of four reads about 110 requests from the service. A character is read once per visit to the page, and a failed read can be retried with the Try again button of its card.
- Nothing is saved to an account. The comparison lives in the address and the browser.
